This Handbook is intended for those who work with Persons with Disabilities (PWD). The handbook presents strategies to increase resilience of PWD’s to disaster risk and climate change

It can be used in any situation that warrants fundamental knowledge of disaster risk for and climate change impacts on Maldives. The utility of the handbook is ensured through consultation with relevant stakeholders, throughout the development of the handbook.

This handbook sets out the key ways to approach public awareness or public education for disaster risk reduction focusing on different forms of disabilities, highlighting the following four major types of approaches – campaigns, participatory learning, informal education and formal school based interventions.
